GAZ66 MILITARY EXPEDITION TRUCK 4X4

Description:

This beauty has a fully rebuilt 4.2 V8 engine and is doing approx. 24 miles per gallon on LPG. It has taken nearly a year to completely rebuild/recondition the engine and to source all the original componants for her. This work was carried out by a fully qualified vosa inspector and also one of the main contenders for top Gaz 66 miltary trucks experts in the uk. Stunning workmanship.

Other parts that are new are the clutch, fuel pump, oil pump, power steering pump, all hydraulic hoses, brake pipes and perishable rubbers. Everything is working as it should, this vehicle is ready to drive away. She drives very smoothly, the power steering is exceptionally good, you can almost  turn  on a penny with her :-)

MOT and Tax exempt, very cheap on insurance, especially, if you become a member of the Military Vehicle and/or Caravan Club.

Everything that was Russian and NOT user friendly has been replaced with standard Metric fitting components, making this vehicle exceptionally user friendly in many more ways. She drives on Petrol and LPG, which can be changed with a flick of a switch in the cab.

Comes with a fully working compressor on board which can self inflate all the tires when out in the field. A new set of five onroad tires are included.

For enthusiasts, there are numerous original parts inside and outside from the time when this truck was used as a Russian Military Radio Truck. There is an original air filtration system that cleanses the air inside the butt and also protects from chemical, germ or nuclear pollution from the outside, however, this is not fully operational as the air system was removed due to the age of the original piping.

Having been involved with GAZ66 owners we have been educated about the historical background of these vehicles coming from the East. There are many sites where you can buy these vehicles and reasonably cheap at the price, however, upon purchase of these vehicles they all have to be completely stripped and rebuild. The reason for this is, because all of them without exception have been in  storage since the end of their military duty. All the oils, lubricants and perishable components on these vehicles are all original and need to be replaced. This obviously includes all the working parts of the internal engine, i.e. valves, belts, etc, etc, etc. If this work is not done invariably these engines blow up.

All the hard and heavy duty work has been done on this vehicle to the highest level and no expenses spared. All parts have been sourced equally to the highest quality.

The emphasis was put on the mechanical and economical reliability for long distance travelling and local domestic cruising, too.

The living area comes with a domestic gas tank fitted for on board safety and user friendly refuelling without having to carry gas bottles. This is a specific vapor gas tank, that runs of the main gas supply tank that is fueling the engine, utilising a system for optimum efficiency.
Structurally she is in exceptionally good condition,  no deterioration on the chassis anywhere. Parts of the electrics have been upgraded, including all of the main fuse box.
The engine has passed her initial running in since being rebuilt. To date on the clock there are around 2000 miles/ 4000 km.
We ran the new engine in with a trip to Portugal, which is where she is presently and can be viewed, test driven and collected by new owners :-) On our trip everything went perfectly, apart from a jammed thermostat, which has been replaced.
