Description:
Here for sale is my VolksWagen Beetle, bought this with the intention to take it to some classic car shows, however time and other commitments have taken over and I just can not get round to enjoying the vehicle. So I would like it to go to someone who is going to love and look after it as I and the previous owners have. If you have any questions about the vehicle please ask, it is currently insured so the mileage may go up slightly due to being in use, the current mileage is 55,000 miles roughly, so quite low miles for a vehicle this age.
VolksWagen Beetle Marathon Weltmeister, 2 Door Saloon, Manual, 1972 ’K’ reg, 55,000 miles. 1285cc engine, petrol. Finished in a custom paint scheme with a bright metallic Blue base and white stripes over the roof and bonnet, finished with a thick red pin stripe down the bonnet with Black basket weave seats. 15” Lemmerz ‘Marathon’ sports wheels finished in Silver and Black. MOT & Tax exempt.
Starts at the turn of the key, engine is all original and standard with the oil bath air filter. The paint is very honest and as you can see from the photos it does have some age related marks, (not bad for 47 years old tho). A very presentable, usable classic.
The Marathon Beetles were produced to celebrate the Beetles world record production figure of 15,007,034 recorded on 17th February 1972. This 1300cc Beetle was subsequently called the World Champion, “Weltmeister” in German.
The Edition comprised of one single, unique, paint colour and wheel combination package that varied in detail according to the country of sale. The paint was a special Marathon metallic paint, paint code: Silver Blue L96M. The car was fitted with unique silver and black sports wheels, made by Lemmerz, part number: 000 071 475B and had wheel nut caps and octagonal VW alloy hub covers. Black leatherette basket weave seat covers and rubber bumper inserts completed the car.
A little over 6,000 of these editions were produced, with an estimated 1,000 right-hand drive “Marathon Weltmeister Beetles” came to the UK, of which only 160 appear on the Marathon register.
