A set of 4 Victorian Mahogany splat back dining chairs made by James Reilly 1825–1889.
The chairs have a balloon back above a splat to the seat and are raised upon turned reeded front supports.
These chairs have a special and very strong durable and patented construction and are completely made in solid mahogany.
The backs are fixed to the seat rails with bolts fastened with captive nuts hidden in slots in the rails. The exposed head of the bolt is visible at the back and has a slotted head.
All chairs are stamped with ”J. REILLY’S PATENT” at the bottom of the stretcher.
