1998 W210 Mercedes E55 AMG

For Sale or Swap, my Mercedes E55 AMG W210 pre-facelift.

I've owned this car for 7 years now and covered about 20'000 miles in it since and it is currently on 143'000 miles. I am lucky to own a few cars so of course the E55 is not a daily driver. As you can see from the images (which are all very recent) the car is in very good condition considering it last had a respray in about 2009/2010. There is just a very small area of surface corrosion on the LH Front wing, and also on the RH rear panel between wheel arch and rear door. This does not let the car down and if you check the MOT history, you will see it has not ever had any advisories for corrosion related points. It really is one of the true survivor cars that were assembled before the water based paint technology was introduced.

As mentioned, It was last resprayed around 13/14 years ago and still looks very presentable, but does have some light scratches/stonechips on the front end now. The front wings are horrible with the vents cut in (by a previous owner) but I have a pair of new (in primer) E55 wings to go with the car.

The interior is in amazing condition (as with any of these E55s that have been looked after) everything works including the Air Con, and someone went to the trouble of fitting the full COMAND system from a facelift E55 model, which all works including the (dated) Sat Nav, and even the TV! as it has a digital tuner fitted.

Make no mistake, this thing is a monster and will still embarrass modern fast cars such as the Golf R and Audi S5. They were very well developed by AMG, and the AMG ECUs for both Engine and Gearbox communicate together with the ESP and TC systems to create a very fast point to point machine. It's not just a one trick pony drag racer.

The wheels are slightly wider than normal being 8.5 / 9.5 inch wide (rather than 8/9) as are from a CL55 AMG model. The standard tyre sizes are more suited to these being 235 front and 265 rear. Tyres are Yokohama all round which I bought around 5 years ago and still have plenty of tread. I service the car myself (being an Automotive Engineer) and it is serviced annually regardless of what mileage it covers.

It would need a bush and/or ball joint changing on the front end as it's not quite as sharp as it used to be, it's obviously not slack enough to be picked up at MOT time, but I can feel there is slight room for improvement having owned it for so long.
