YAMAHA rd400e hybrid special

Description:

This is my Yamaha RD 400 reverse cylinder hybrid,
this bike is completely one off and unique..

One off frame designed on cad software, parts lazer cut and tig welded in a jig which replicates original rd geometry exactly. It uses the original headstock with same rake angle as well as the original front forks .the engine is also original and is in same position as original and therefore it's able to keep same registration and doesn't require nasty q plates or other testing.
It has a custom jmc swingarm leading to a rising rate linkage shock with fully adjustable preload and damped plus the lengh of the wheel base can be adjusted + or- 30mm by rotating the rear spindle clamps.
Cylinders and pistonds have been reversed to allow for a straighter expansion chambers as well as a cold forced air induction and was also ported and tuned by Bob Farnham. Carbs are jetted rich to suit high speed so as not to lean out at and so is pretty rich if you go steady slow on it.
Bike runs 32.-1 premix and i use a747- Castrol castor based oil. It's dear but smells so good and doesn't coke up. Its pretty ballistic for 400 and will easily keep up with the 600s if you've got the bottle to open it right up!
New mot and tyres
Almost showroom condition and a real head turned at the shows..
Just had the barrels resleeved and bored out to around 440cc now with new wosner forged pistons and porting.
Hard to value as its unique but similar rd hybrids fetch £8k+ give or take.
