Ford Escort RS Turbo S2 1988
Here we have for sale my pride and joy, 1988 Ford Escort RS Turbo.
I’ve owned many Rs’s over the years this is by far the best I’ve owned.
The mileage on the clocks is showing less than 50k I very much doubt this is genuine as I have minimal history to back this up. (Mileage has never bothered me with this type of car it’s always down to the condition of the car in my opinion.)
Before I bought the car the previous owner had the car repainted. The colour is mercury grey.
In an ideal world I’d love to keep the car but I’ve too many cars and very little time, even less now I have a 3mounth old. It was either the escort that goes or my Sierra Cosworth. The deciding factor was the fact that with 4 door it’s easier to get my new born baby in and out of the Sierra.
The car’s original registration plate is E35BHK my private plate will be removed before the sale.
If you google the reg plate E35BHK you will find countless posts and photos about this car.
This is a genuine S2 RS Turbo NON Custom. The escort left the factory with no sunroof and windy windows. It has since been fitted with electric windows but the holes in the door card still remain for the windy ones. My plan was to put this back to standard. Non sunroof models where only available on Late D’s and early E plates. At the time it was a no brainer to order them with a sunroof which is why you don’t see that many. In all fairness knowing what we all know now I think everyone would have ordered them without!

1.8ZVH (1.8zetec bottem end CHV head.)
Vernier pulley and cam. (I’ve never removed the cam to check what it is but there isn’t many escorts out there that don’t have either a piper or Kent cam.)

The car hasn’t been used since august 2016 when I was invited to the 30th anniversary of the escort turbo by fast ford at Santa pod. Before the sale I will need to replace the starter motor and remove my plate. (Starter has become lazy.) I drove the car from Blackpool to Santa pod and back in one day, the car didn’t miss a beat nor use a drop of water or oil.
For the purist out there the car could do with having full sills. Only because it’s had patches in the past and if you want to lay under your car all day they don’t look pretty. (The sills are solid!)
I would take a px for something practical.
I would also be willing to do a deal on a S1 Escort or RS1600i
