Excellent condition for it's age, only done approx 18.2k miles and it’s been garaged for the last 2 years with the odd ride here and there, It's a lovely example with the original orange plastic dealership pack, the original ktm sales brochure from 2002, the specific ktm bike service manual, plus the original KTM tool satchel for under the seat plus pillion foot pegs. I have pretty much all of the original documents including old MOTs, service stamps in the book, receipts for maintenance and only a few years ago it had nearly a grand splashed out on it by the previous owner. You can tell it’s been really well looked after, engine is very clean, shiny rear springs and chrome, and no scratches on the metal engine housing which is a rare thing.
It's got 12months fresh mot (no advisories), and i've just splashed nearly £400 on a gold service via KTM certified mechanic, a friend of the family and used to be a KTM race team mechanic and knows the bike inside out. The service included the usual oil/filter change, brake fluid, front/rear suspension inspected and oiled, chain oiled and adjusted, coolant changed, carbs cleaned, coolant hoses replaced, wheels re-aligned, gaskets replaced, tapets adjusted, all nuts and bolts inspected and tightened up where necessary. Plus it turns out the carbs were running on the original factory bhp restrictor from when the bikes needed to get through EU import regs, so it's nice to know the engine hasn't been ragged during it's lifespan. He quoted that the engine runs as sweet as when it left the factory line. A year and a half ago it had a full service from a mobile bike mechanic guy I know, I made sure it had castrol premium oil too, he was a honda race team engineer so it's been well looked after during my ownership. The tyres are fairly decent, probably about mid worn and the battery came out of a good charge on the optimate starting first time yesterday.
If I were to view the bike myself for the first time i'd spot these tiny niggles, and im being really picky for the sake of honesty in the listing:
- The seat shows some tiny spots of use to be expected, a dozen spots/chips on the synthetic leather but it's pretty good all round.
- the matt black plastic fuel tank has very minor surface marks to be expected, if you could even call them scratches, plastic cleaner clears it up as good as new.
- on the right hand side rear black glossy plastic there's a 2pence piece surface scuff, probably a mark from a zip on leathers or a boot, however it's not too noticeable.
- rubber sleeve on the front left hand mirror arm has broken away at the base, probably cheap to replace this.
- Exhaust manifold pipes have surface rust, the normal that you would expect really.
The bike is just great fun and makes you smile when you get it out on the country roads, it’s very light and nimble, bundles of torque, the exhaust pops and spits flames like a quad bike it just sounds awesome. I've already had an offer on it, but il give it a few weeks on here to get the right deal.
Viewings or questions are very welcome, viewings outside of working 9-5 hours mon-fri preferable, but with test rides i’m sure anyone would understand needs licence and some security to leave with me. Also if like me, you fall in love with the bike online and buy it like I did without seeing it in the flesh you won’t be disappointed, plus I know a great guy who delivers bikes across the UK and is very reasonably priced so let me know and we can make arrangements following payment.
I’m based in Milton Keynes (5 mins from the A5) or (15 mins from J13/14 M1)
