obviously this means theres ZERO knocks or bangs from the suspension and it stays on the road like it should do!
its also had...
The dreaded rubbish/poorly designed manifold replaced with a proper cast one including gaskets and studs. (again this is a horrible job that involves many parts being removed just to get to the manifold!)
recent new turbo
new 4mm black vacuum hoses
new boost solenoid (replaced because it had a small boost problem, it turned out to be the rubbish bmw manifold that had split!)
new parking sensors (still needs 1 on the front fitting as its very temperamental but it comes with a new one to fit)
new pollen filter
new gearbox oil and filter using zf lifeguard 6 oil (THE only oil to use for the 6 speed zf gearbox) (bmw says the oil is 'lifetime' but with the vehicle doing 165,000 miles we thought it would be best to have it changed as 'lifetime' to bmw means 100,000 miles.)
new outer cv boots with fresh grease on both front driveshafts
new injector seals (these were replaced because the injectors had to come out when replacing the manifold so we did it for good measure) :)
so...as you can probably guess, it drives like it should and isnt one of the typical abused examples out there, we bought it and found all the little faults with it and decided to throw LOTS of money, time and effort at it which means
it runs as it should,
the 6 speed gearbox is smooth, sport mode works as does tiptronic/manual
the ride is smooth and it doesnt knock or bang over bumps etc
the engine is smooth and the power is there as it should be.
it starts on the first turn of the key EVERYTIME!
(it also has 2 keys)
it does still need a couple of items to make it truly perfect, and these items are included in the sale so you dont have to go searching/waiting for parts. We just never got round to fitting them.
1. thermostat....its a bmw at the end of the day, the thermostats are rubbish! it gets up to temp fine until you really get going and then it drops to a bit below middle.
2. parking sensor on front (as mentioned above)
3. inner track rods.
4. 4x4 light is on, this doesnt affect the driving at all, its the steering angle sensor (it may just need re-calibrating and we'll try do this before the end of sale!)
4. air con doesnt work
5. the speakers sometimes all work and sometimes only the fronts work, this is the radio amp, easy/cheap to change.
6. the screen in the front has a small line through it, it doesnt really affect anything tho.
i think that covers everything,
Ive advertised it to the best of my knowledge and tried to be as honest as possible, obviously its a (big) old car and does have odd marks here n there on the bodywork but overall its clean, the tyres are all useable but 2 could do with replacing soon. (rear)
looking for M sport touring, audi avant, etc etc W.H.Y???
