Description:
Had it properly appraised for Insurance valuation again this year and came back at an agreed £19.5k (as with all collectable jdm stuff it rises every year, hence having it properly appraised come insurance renewal, was also told that if I were back on the original suspension and with oem wheels that would push it to £21k, I have a set of original suspension and wheels, but unfortunately the company I had refurbishing the wheels went bust so I have just managed to get them back but unfinished, they would come with an almost brand new set of toys tr1's to go back on too). If yours is worth £21k I’ll put the wheels in for refurb somewhere else and have those and the suspension fitted before exchange (I’ll even throw in the set of forged mak wheels and tyres that are on it currently as I won’t need them) Please do the research before offering on it, as very few are either for sale or have sold recently that are anywhere near as good as this have all made over £18k. I’m not here to rip anyone off so will accept swaps that are genuinely valued at around £19.5k (or £21k returned to 100% stock)(I’m not asking market value for mine but offering trade on yours as appears to be fashionable on here now, if you want to do both at trade in value then that’s fine too) so please be sensible. May also be tempted by a cheeper classic car and cash as I’m always tempted by something 60-70’s or 80’s, but as far as 90’s/post millennium stuff goes there’s nothing as good as this for the money so that’s a no go I’m afraid.
I bought this rare Rev3 Turbo at the beginning of 2019 as it’s the best one I’ve ever seen, most of them are rot boxes, it’s only done 17,000km since it was imported in 2008 (imported by a lovely chap in his 60’s because his wife had stopped getting on the bikes with him, I bought it as it was too low for them both to get in and out of now), always garaged and showing just over 115,000 Km. It’s completely standard baring wheels and the fact its currently on tein adjustable coil-overs (as above have oem suspension and wheels (needing a refresh) that will come with it ) and is the top spec with full 245bhp, lsd and traction control and the optional electronic brake force distribution (so an active yaw sensor) sports abs (all of which you really do want if your getting a turbo mr2). Sailed through the last MOT with no advisories and its only done a handful of miles this year.
Before getting in touch please have a read of why you want the rev3 and not the others there’s a massive difference in both spec and price, and also why you need to find one with the rare traction control and EBFD. Also have a look at prices as there’s lots of really poor ones and rev1 or 2’s out there that are cheep but decent and most desirable rev3’s are rocketing up at the minute, in part because of the supras having become stupidly expensive, but also a rumoured new mr2 for 2025 to challenge the nsx and the hurican. Its also pretty much impossible to import a rev3 from Japan now as they were a rare production run and are so highly sort after and tend to stay in the jdm market. The much less desirable Rev2 can still be got hold of but it’s the rev3 that’s really appreciating at the minute. This car has been to several car shows since I bought it and goes down very well indeed, plus the t-top has been great over the last three summers. I had it ceramic coated last year, the chap that valeted and polished it for me was amazed that it is (baring a wing mirror) it’s in completely original paint still (there are a couple of tiny imperfections that I have been quoted £250 to rectify, but I’d rather be selling an honest car!) this includes a small scuff/dent on the very underside of the passenger sill from a high kerb (photos available). Our local mechanic also confirmed that it’s the best one he’s seen, he also allowed me to take pictures underneath on his ramp after the pre mot and I’m happy to send them out to people! It’s just had two new cv joints as there was a cracked abs ring on one side, rings are integral to cv joint and not available separately, so I just purchased both sides just to be sure it’s 100% right! It’s also had a new front caliper as one had already been replaced by previous owner but drivers side one had got just a tiny bit sticky with sitting over lockdown.
Finally it has all the most rare accessories with it, including the fitted man in danamism mats, boot liner t-top covers and bags and even the original tool box for the front boot area. Plus the steering spotlights that actually work still (almost unheard of!) and the original key with the side push button (again almost unheard of!).
To sum up if you want either something that’s fantastic to drive, gets loads of attention and will do its best to look after you when if your talent runs out, or something to add sparkle to your collection that you can keep garaged and watch the value go up and up. This one is the right model in the right condition and the right colour, with the right spec and accessories to do either or both of those jobs. They very rarely come up anywhere near this one (I looked for years before I found it) and it’s the perfect all round reliable classic car!
In all honesty I love it, including the fact people come over in car parks to tell you how good it looks/sounds especially as it’s not been modified, but partly as they are increasing in value every month at the minute. However my wife would like a camper for the family, so despite this being a safe place to put the money exchanging it for a camper is a safe place for me to put myself! I would consider offers to swap or px for a t4 preferably a topaz or atleast one with a loo (although I can see the appeal of a poptop), but I really would prefer not to have the 1.9 engine as the noise of them just makes me miserable! I will also look at other factory built van conversions providing they have a proper toilet (timberlands, autotrail etc.) However, I may also be tempted by something interesting from the 60’s or 70’s with cash my way as I could buy a van and have the conversion done?
Any questions just ask,
thanks Paul
