Description:
I have for sale my late pre-facelift, 2004 Nighthawk Black Integra DC5 Type R.
Before going on to the car in greater detail. I've recently had to install a replacement engine as the previous one was damaged; it now has an extremely low mileage JDM K20A purchased from reputable Honda breakers, Integrastella and removed from another DC5. The engine had only done around 49k miles when it was removed which is really low for a car of its age; it was fitted by VTEC Direct in October 2019.
Andy who owns Integrastella is a highly reputable trader in the Honda scene, he says it’s one of the freshest low mileage blocks he’s seen out of a DC5 in nearly 8 years of stripping Hondas. The replacement engine is running brilliantly and it now feels like the car it should have been. VTEC Direct also took out the old clutch at the same time, and replaced it with the one that came with the new engine; the clutch release bearing has been replaced for a new Honda OEM part.
It’s had a fresh fluid change and valve clearance adjustment after 500 miles had been done on the replacement engine, prior to this it had been serviced by a mixture of VTEC Direct, Grinspeed and occasionally my local garage.
I acquired the car on 17/03/2018. It was first registered in Japan on the 01/03/2004, the earliest date the odometer was read in Japan was on the 30/06/2005 was 11,000kms; which equates to 6835 UK miles. It was imported to the UK on the 07/11/2005 and it has a total of 8 previous owners with myself being the ninth. The car is HPI clear with evidence to prove this.
It comes with the BIMTA Certificate which shows the aforementioned figures. The mileage on the old engine before it was removed was 105,421 which was a mixture of KMS and miles. The mileage will increase steadily as I still use the car on a near daily basis, but it covers very little miles. As of January 2020, it's on just over 107k.
As you can see it has been cosmetically modified by its previous owners. I’ve also made a few changes since owning the car to improve it further. It comes with a comprehensive history and a folder crammed with receipts, MOT's and tonnes of history.
On to modifications:
The suspension and chassis has been fully polybushed with Super Castor Pro bushes all round and Tegiwa subframe collars. It has quite recently had Hardrace front LCA bushes fitted by VTEC Direct as one of the Super Pro’s was damaged, so they’re as new strengthened and upgraded LCA bushes on both sides.
At the same time I had a mini suspension refresh done. It’s had new OEM Honda replacement ball joints fitted and new OEM Honda replacement Track rod ends as it had EP3 ones fitted which were the wrong fitment for the car. There are no adjustable front camber bolts fitted so it would benefit from these if being used on track, however for road use it’s fine.
It has Hardrace rear adjustable camber arms setup by VTEC Direct, it’s running a touch of toe in to help get the rear tyres up to temperature a bit quicker. I’ve done two trackdays since I’ve had it (On the previous engine) and it’s running on a full set of AD08R tyres which still have some tread on them but will likely need replacing in the coming months.
The car when I bought it came with OEM dampers and Spoon springs, and it was a tad hard on the road. I didn’t fancy changing to coilovers so thankfully I managed to source a set of second hand Mugen Showa dampers off the DC5 owners forum; this has improved the suspension and feel no end, and gives the car more of a Mugen feel tying in with the bodywork bits.
The Wheels are Rota CE28 replicas in a dark chrome colour; they look black so go well with car’s colour but are in need of a refurb. I may be swapping these for a set of OEM wheels so the Rota’s may be off the car soon however they're still on it at present.
Brake pads are PBS 800 front and rear on standard discs. It has TGM Sport upgraded brake lines front and rear with ATE Super fluid. These brake lines are excellent quality, heavy duty and are extremely well made. The calipers could do with a freshen up tbh.
When I first purchased it, it was treated to a full 2 stage machine polish and detail by Iain at Finer Details in Rochdale which really helped bring the black out, however the bodywork although decent isn’t A1 and is reflective of the car's age. The front bumper and rear spoiler could do with tidying up a bit but being a Black car, it does look lovely when cleaned and polished up.
Looking back through its history it has been undersealed a few times in the past back in 2014 and 2015 with POR15 and some other waxoil treatment which is all documented in the folder.
I've had the underneath inspected as a few people have enquired about its condition. The garage have said the underneath is in pretty good condition bar some surface rust which you'd expect on any vehicle of this age (2004), this is an independent garage that I've never previously used so he doesn't know the car. It was last treated back in 2015 with Waxoil and I spray and snow foam the car on a weekly basis and spray the underneath to get any salt off.

It’s had an enormous amount of money spent on it mainly by previous owners and also by me, so is a great base especially with the engine possibly being one of the lowest mileage blocks in the UK. The car is a real eye catcher and receives lots of positive comments and looks from people.
I’m open to any test drive and inspection, It will make an excellent car for someone, the basis is there to make it a potential track weapon or future project. It's certainly not perfect but overall it’s in pretty good condition for its age.
If anyone has any questions please send me a private message and I will ping my mobile over. I’m on Whatsapp as well so I’m happy to send my mobile via private message. Based in Conwy County, North Wales.
Looking for £8,500 but open to offers.
Cheers
Marc
