Blackcab Taxi LTI TX4
Location: North West England - Chorley
Swap Value: £500+
Description:
London Taxi International (LTI)
Bronze Edition
Not got the terrible 2.4 VM diesel engine as it was replaced some time ago when it commonly failed… anyone who no’s about blackcabs will tell you the one to have is the Nissan diesel engine.
And so it’s had the Well known much sought after 2.7 diesel BULLET PROOF NISSAN ENGINE FITTED with plenty more years left in it, these just go on and on and on and will happily cruise on the motorway at 70-80mph.
Starts first time every time and sounds as sweet as the day it was made with no knocks or bangs or any horrible noises.
Bodywork is quite fair with no obvious dents or rot, there is a spot of the lower driver door (see photos) but the vehicle is more than presentable and not in need of body repairs, there will be some minor dings or marks that you would expect with a vehicle of this age but again nothing that requires the attention of the Bodyshop.
Gearbox does what it should BUT when in 3rd gear if engine is labouring it drops out of gear until you lift your foot and gently apply accelerate, if driven normally it’s not a problem, or simply slip it into second and accelerate then slide it back into “D” (drive)
I have used it like this since owning it and haven’t felt it needed garage attention. I have been told to check gearbox oil level and/or replace gearbox oil and filter BUT I use it as it is and drove it back from market Harbour where I originally purchased it.
The fuel gauge stops working when the tank level drops below half the gauge shows NO FUEL, new tank fuel sender are £20 on eBay.
It’s surprisingly very good on fuel.
The seats are all in good condition as is the general interior condition, the black cab is simply too good to scrap.
Many uses as it’s like a tardis inside with plenty of room and would make a good micro camper or even great for marketing/advertising your business. Many people even turn them into hot rods. Check YouTube for black cab conversions.

Many more things that I’ve probably forgot to mention.
ALL standard blackcab/taxi features are working, it’s comfy to drive, an awesome piece of English heritage.
It shows as NOT mot’d but from talking to ordinal owner when purchased it had a private council taxi test so when taxing on line simply select “local council tested” and it allows you to tax it (as shown in photos) I don’t no much more about the MOT for taxis I can only say what I was told.
Be sensible, I work in the vehicle industry and own my own company that specialise in the repair of Emergancy Ambulances and first Emergancy Responce vehicles, I no my stuff so don’t come down and expect to haggle or pull the wool over my eyes as it simply just WONT work.
