Description:
COMING SOON! TRADE IN SPECIAL West Wight Potter 14ft trailer sailer, an excellent example in very original condition. This classic design hails from the original production series that began in the late 1960s, based on the Stanley C. Smith design. The boat, named "Odd Shoe" by its original owner, is an early "A type" with plywood construction and a traditional sliding gunter rig, allowing all spars to be stored within the boat's length.
Later versions of this model are still produced worldwide, with this original version holding a strong reputation and following. A unique feature of this particular boat is its removable cabin top, offering flexibility for those who prefer an open boat experience. Stable, lightweight, and easy to sail, this trailer sailer performs well under sail, with an outboard, or even with oars.
At just over 14 feet long, it can be easily towed by a small car and is manageable for launching and retrieving from its robust, fully galvanised towing/launching trailer, supplied by Lizard Trailers (SW) Ltd, a specialist company based in Cornwall, not far from where the boat was originally built.
Having purchased the boat in 2013, they always kept it dry-stored indoors, fitting comfortably into a domestic garage. Originally intended as a family sailing project, their plans changed, and now they are reluctantly passing it on for someone else to enjoy.
The boat comes with a rear tent cover and a Mercury outboard motor, which is stored and transported on its trolley.
